What is chamber pot?

A chamber pot is a type of portable toilet that was commonly used in homes before the introduction of indoor plumbing. It is typically a small, round, metal or ceramic container with a handle and a lid that can be placed under a bed or in a bedroom for use during the night.

Chamber pots were used as a convenient way for people to relieve themselves without having to go outside to an outhouse or latrine. They were especially popular in bedrooms and were often kept hidden in a nightstand or under the bed.

In the 19th century, chamber pots were often made of ceramic or porcelain and were decorated with intricate designs or patterns. Some chamber pots even had a built-in lid to help contain odors.

While chamber pots are no longer commonly used in modern homes, they can still be found in antique shops or used as decorations in historical reenactments.
